Nokia 3310 4G variant with Android based Yun OS launched in China: Price, features and more

After weeks of rumours and leaks, the 4G variant of the refreshed Nokia 3310 has finally launched in China. Unlike the 2G variant, the 4G VoLTE enabled Nokia 3310 runs on YunOS, an operating system made by the Alibaba Group that is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP).

FEATURES, SPECIFICATIONS

The Nokia 3310 4G, which was earlier expected to be unveiled at the Mobile World Conference in Barcelona, has been silently launched in China and comes with support for 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi hotspot. In China, the mobile comes pre-loaded with popular applications for music, books and audiobooks.

It is not known at the moment if the phone has the ability to run stripped down versions of apps like Facebook and WhatsApp. If it does, it will give tough competition to smart feature phones like the Micromax Bharat 1 and JioPhone as and when it is launched in India. While JioPhone does not support third-party apps, the Bharat 1 comes with WhatsApp out of the box.
Apart from YunOS , 4G connectivity and Wi-Fi support, the phone is more or less similar to the standard 2G variant of the Nokia 3310. It has a 2.4-inch QVGA colour display with a polarised layer on top, a 2MP rear camera with an LED flash, microSD card support and a 1,200mAh battery which can be charged via a microUSB port. The internal storage though has been expanded from 64MB to 512MB.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

HMD Global has not revealed the pricing and availability details of the Nokia 3310 4G as of now. Reports indicate that the phone is expected to go on sale in China sometime in February via China Mobile.
We can expect the global variant of the feature phone to be showcased at MWC 2018 in March along with the Nokia 9, Nokia 1 and global variants of the Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7.
